White Rabbit Chocolatiers opening new artisan chocolate café

White Rabbit Chocolatiers, one of Yorkshire’s most beloved artisan chocolaterie, has announced an exciting new expansion with the opening of an on-site artisan chocolate café.

As well as continuing to sell luxury handmade chocolates, the store, which has been a Beverley mainstay since 2004, will offer exclusive hot chocolates in the brand new Artisan Chocolate Café. Visitors will enjoy chocolate in Aztec and Georgian blends, as well as their own blend of artisan coffees, high-grade teas, light lunches and nibbles, and a range of delicious cakes, bakes and desserts. Those stopping at the café for a spot of indulgence will be able to enjoy their sweet treats in a deluxe seating area designed by Den Interior Design, the creative minds behind the famous 1884 Dock Street restaurant in Hull.

The expansion of the premises will also increase the facilities for the popular chocolate-making workshops offered by White Rabbit Chocolatiers – a private function room will be added, which will also lead to a wider range of activities for corporate functions, private parties and other esteemed guests.

Ed Hawkes, Business Manager of White Rabbit Chocolatiers, says, “We’ve gone from strength to strength here at White Rabbit Chocolatiers over the last decade or so, and as demand has grown for our decadent artisan chocolates, we knew that expanding the premises was the next logical move. The launch of the Artisan Chocolate Café is very exciting for the entire team here – not only will we be able to offer exciting new products and experiences to our lovely customers, we’ll also be taking on new staff members, training the next generation of professional chocolatiers to keep this wonderful tradition alive.”

The expansion will involve promoting one of the chocolatier’s existing full-time staff members to a chocolatier, as well as taking on further staff members to run the café. The team at White Rabbit will also be seeking a full-time pastry chef and several new part-time staff, creating exciting new jobs for the people of Beverley.

White Rabbit Chocolatiers was founded back in 2004 by Sally Hawkes, mother of Ed. Up until 2014, Sally was the sole full-time worker at the chocolaterie, selling chocolate by day, completing her chocolatier training and dreaming up exciting new chocolate concoctions by night. Keeping it in the family, Ed joined the business permanently in 2014, to help his mum achieve the recognition she deserves, as one of the Yorkshire’s finest chocolatiers.

Ed adds, “Seeing the premises transformed into a fantastic new café for our customers is a fantastic milestone for me, but also for my Mum, Sally, who has poured all of her dedication into White Rabbit Chocolatiers for over ten years. It’s wonderful to see her skills recognised in this way, and I’m sure the customers who come from all across Yorkshire to taste her chocolate will agree!”
